COVID-19 Testing
-
We are experiencing an improvement in Covid-19 impacts compared to previous years. This is attributed to widespread immunity resulting from vaccination and/or natural infection, coupled with the accessibility of readily available treatments for those who are infected. Therefore, LACPH has updated its Covid-19 isolation protocol, transitioning from a required 5-day isolation period to a more symptom-based approach as the determining factor for ending isolation. Please see the link and summary below. LAC_DPH Guidelines
-
Individuals who test positive for Covid with symptoms must stay home until fever-free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication AND other symptoms are not present or are mild and improving. Masks are required when leaving isolation thru day 10 from symptoms onset.
-
Asymptomatic individuals who have tested positive are not required to isolate, as long as they wear a properly fitting mask.
CDPH recommends that antigen tests be considered the primary option for detecting Covid-19 in schools. Test kits are available for students/staff who are symptomatic considered a close contact, or for any employee needing to test weekly at their school site. Additionally, free test kits mailed directly to your home may be obtained by visiting https://www.covid.gov/tests.
